NEXT STOP
is a non-government organization that stimulates
and organizes varieties of co-operation between
Yugoslavia and other countries, aiming to bring
down prejudice and stereotypes, to develop
intercultural cooperation and communication
through wide range of activities.
ABOUT
A NEED TO ESTABLISH THIS KIND OF AN ORGANIZATION
The
Next Stop Serbia campaign was initiated in August
1999 in Copenhagen by the group of students, union
members, people with special interest in the
Balkans, participants of the Next Stop movement
dating back to the 80's and volunteers from Danish
Association for International Cooperation, the
latter being a non-government organization. The
initial aim of the gathering had been common
interest for creating the alternative to the
official policy towards Serbia. So the idea of
seeking the means for reconciliation came in the
year when Denmark was involved in the bombing of
Serbia.

NEXT STOP
today
is an NGO, settled in Belgrade, whose mission has
been broadened since its initiation in accordance
with the newly established social changes and the
entire situation in region. The idea was to
encourage communication and various forms of
exchange and cooperation between the countries in
the Yugoslav region (Serbia, Montenegro, Kosovo)
and Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, FYR
Macedonia and Slovenia, using some of the models
of exchange with Scandinavia. Besides, the aim was
to broaden the existing web of communication and
cooperation, but mainly with the surrounding
countries thus developing the idea of maintaining,
above all, personal contacts which are the firm
base for developing all other kinds of exchange
and cooperation: academic, cultural, sports...
