The
2001 Summer University took place in Novi Sad and
Belgrade from July 13 till July 25. It was
organized by the NGO Next Stop (Belgrade), NGO
Next Stop Serbia (Copenhagen), The Student Union
of the Law University (Belgrade), and the NGO Most
from Belgrade. It hosted 135 students, from
countries such as Yugoslavia, Denmark, Norway,
Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and FYR
Macedonia.
The
lectures took place at Novi Sad's Law school. The
University included 5 separate courses:
- The
Psychology of Peace and Democracy
- The Influence of Media in Forming the
Public Opinion
- Ecology
- Anthropology and Film
- Human Rights
The
activities had been organized as lectures,
educational workshops, debates, group-work and
discussions.
Although
the utterance has been put on the academic life,
social life went on as well: sports contests, and
parties at the Strand (NS), karaoke nights,
swimming in the Danube, EXIT...
Every
goal to which the SU had been set aside for, was
fulfilled:
-
attendants had the opportunity to deepen their
knowledge about various themes. Especially guests
from
Scandinavian countries, who had the
opportunity to get the better view about the
situation in South-Eastern
Europe in the past
decade,
-
the foundation for further cooperation between the
attendants and
institutions they represent had been set,
-
the international networking was created - the
first Next Stop Serbia projects had been created
in Denmark,
and their aim was Serbia, but the
project started to spread around surrounding
countries,
- bringing down cultural boundaries was,
doubtlessly, the complete success.
The
initial restrains in communication between the
attendants had been substituted with
open-heartedness and new friendships.
Conversations went on from political subjects, to
music, film, everyday life...
The
project was organized and supported by:
